The Oakwood Waits are holding auditions for one bass position on September 11, 2010.
Chorus Basics: Mixed adult chorus, 17 singers. There are no dues, but members must acquire their music and a costume of 1840’s Dickens-era design as approved by the group. Rehearsals are every other Sunday night through October (beginning September 12), every Sunday night in November, and the performers are expected to be available for performances from Thanksgiving through Christmas. Musical director: Michael J. Glasgow. The successful candidate will possess a solid bass range, a voice strong in both solo and choral textures, and good music-reading skills. A friendly, hard-working individual with an approachable and “team-minded” attitude is required. Candidates should be “quick studies” who are able to practice/learn parts outside of rehearsal. Each year since 1984, citizens of Raleigh and the surrounding area have looked forward to hearing the Oakwood Waits' harmonious a cappella stylings. Decked out in authentic 1840s attire, they perform for parades, public concerts, and private holiday gatherings.
These 17 singers are among the finest vocalists in the area, and they bring a wealth of musical and theatrical talent to every performance.
The Waits are available to sing at your event during Christmas or at other times of the year by special request.
